History of Scania transporters.

Scania dates back to 1891 with the foundation of a factory in Södertälje Sweden manufacturing railway carriages. The name of the company then was Vagnfabriksaktiebolaget i Södertälje (Swedish for “Wagon Factory Ltd in Södertälje), shortened to Vabis. Then the company started to develop and manufacture cars and trucks and here we are over one hundred years old and going strong. When on the road it is interesting to note how many Scania wagons you see, from our journeys we can tell you there are a lot!  Volkswagen took a large share of Scania in 2008, with 68.6 percent of the voting rights and 37.73 percent of the capital rights.

We use modern transporters and all of our vehicles are Scania wagons fitted with Oakley horseboxes which are fully licensed and insured. Our simple aim is to provide you with a stress free horse transportation service. We are a Professional International Horse Transport Company, fully DEFRA authorised and with an International Operators Licence. We provide services for all of the UK and Europe including our dedicated services to France, Italy and Spain. All of our horseboxes are fully equipped for all of your horses needs. History of Oakley horseboxes.
 
Oakley began in business over fifty years ago on the site of wartime allotments at High Cross near Ware in Hertfordshire, England. From humble beginings they started in a small garage, the company of Oakley Horseboxes was born. Today the company has a turnover in excess of £10 million and is renowned throughout the equestrian world for their high quality vehicles, which are a far cry from the first production horsebox model in 1959. Brothers Brian and Barry Oakley built the business to what it is today.Oakley's business has grown somewhat with horseboxes being exported throughout Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East and the USA.

The Oakley horse box has modern facilities that include continuous hot running water, under-floor / radiator central heating, power showers, dishwashers / washing machine / dryers, Sky television, cinema surround sound DVD, satellite navigation, fully equipped hand built kitchens with marble/granite worktops, hand stitched leather upholstery, on board self monitoring generators and separate water tanks  for washing and grooming horses. Oakley are considered to be one of the best horsebox builders in the world and here at Belvoir horse transport we are very pleased to have them to do our job.

Call out and breakdown cover.

In the unlikely event of a breakdown we are covered by 24 hour call out services provided by the manufactures throughout the time that we own the vehicle. All vehicles are maintained and serviced and have a check every 6 weeks under Ministry Law. We rely on our vehicles to make sure that your horses are traveling in the best conditions and Scania Oakley have proven over the years to be the best money can buy.

Our horse boxes have the following features.

  • Front and Rear Air Suspension.
  • Non-slip rubber flooring throughout inc. rubber ramps.
  • All Partitions are padded and are solid to the floor inc sniffer doors
  • Adjustable partitions to fit any size of horse, pony or mare and foal.
  • Air conditioning and roof ventilation.
  • Choice of forward facing, standing straight across (a design created by us) or herringbone.
  • All lorries have watering facilities and adequate storage lockers.
  • Head collars, ropes, rugs, tail guards, boots are carried on board and can be used on request.
